Nairobi was established in 1899, and in 1905 Mombasa transferred its capital status to Nairobi. Kenya’s capital and largest city is Nairobi. It is often referred to as “Green City in the Sun.” Nairobi serves as the provincial and district capitals of both Nairobi.
The city is located on the Nairobi River in the nation’s south and is 1661 meters (5450 feet) above sea level. With a current estimated urban population of between 3 and 4 million, Nairobi is currently the fourth-largest metropolis in Africa and the most populous city in East Africa. In Nairobi’s administrative region, there were 2,143,254 people living within 684 km2 as per the 1999 Census.
